It took almost a year and a half to finalize nearly 100,000 square feet of space, but the Petersen Automotive Museum is back. The famous Los Angeles landmark houses some of the most recognizable and interesting works of vehicular art in the world and we were proud to help make each automobile shine. When buildings like this are rebuilt from the ground up, the ground is the most important piece of the equation. We created a polished concrete look that helped patrons get from vehicle to vehicle and soak in every inch of chrome and steel. Using Ardex Polish Concrete Topping (PC-TTM), we created 100,000+ sq. ft. of showcase floors on which many of the most iconic cars in the world are displayed. We also completed miles of lineal cementitious patching where walls once stood, and while the phased project took nearly a year to complete, the scope of work was around 5-6 months. MBW is honored to execute the vision of the architecture team at Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) and create a true showstopper of polished concrete, breathtaking architecture, and unbelievable automotive machinery.
